Being able to explore these stunning places and learning about the species that can be sustainably used as wonderful wild ingredients is a fantastic opportunity to get to really know a landscape from its rocks to its roots, from sea to summit.
Your guide, Heather (from Heathery Heights) has spent over five decades exploring the west coast of Scotland and its islands and many of those eating wild foods from a very young age.
Each day we will enjoy exploring the beauty of our chosen destination, its clear waters, coast, and landscape, and discover a little more about the wild foods that grow there. At dinner, we can enjoy the addition of wild treats, from embellishments we have found on the day to specially created dishes. before spending the night at anchor under a blanket of the stars, perhaps with a dram or hot chocolate in hand recounting the day’s adventures, planning, and looking forward to the next.
Eigg is an IPA (Important Plant Area) with many species of national importance from eyebrights to lichens.
Anchoring In Loch Scavaig on the Isle of Skye amongst a seal colony then waking the next morning to walk around the stunning freshwater Loch Coruisk or choosing to climb Sgurr Na Stri. Many walkers reckon that the view from the summit - over Loch Coruisk, the Cuillin and the sea - is the finest in all of Britain.
And finally - Is there enough wild food to survive here? Heather will soon have you looking...

We are a small family run business located on Scotland’s west coast in the heart of the best cruising and adventure arena our country has to offer.
Stravaigin is an old Scots word meaning “To wander with no particular intent” and we like to think that encapsules our ethos of immersive, slow adventures, exploring and discovering new landscapes, experiences, foods, cultures and creating meaningful experiences and memories that linger.
From a days’ sail exploring inner Hebridean islands to a full week of cruising, combining other outdoor activities either as a couple, with friends or a family group cast off with Stravaigin to discover new and exciting horizons.
We pride ourselves on quality in all aspects of what we do and taking the pressure off our guests so they can relax and enjoy the journey, taking in the stunning landscapes and learning about the areas we sail through.
