The newly created Beluga Whale Sanctuary, located in the same bay where the Keiko projects took place (the famous orca from "Free Willy"), the natural cave formations or the enormous lava front from the 1973 volcanic eruption are just some of the natural wonders we can find during the trip. The history of Vestmannaeyjar is filled with picturesque events and we explore Stafkirkjan, the iconic viking-style black church.
Kayak and Puffins focus on offering an enjoyable trip while promoting a sustainable activity and creating an environmental educational experience in the island.
The owners of Kayak and Puffins have experience in wildlife tours, are conservation-oriented and have collaborated with many sea-related research projects including Portugal, South Africa or Argentina.
We collaborate with the two on-going citizen science projects within Vestmannaeyjar:

Kayak and Puffins offer kayak trips around Vestmannaeyjar, a tiny archipelago in the south of Iceland.
Klettsvik bay is our main destination. We explore the cliffs where thousands of seabirds breed every year, including the Atlantic Puffin (Vestmannaeyjar is the location for the biggest Atlantic puffin colony in the world, despite the declining population), the natural cave formations and the newly created Beluga Whale Sanctuary. We focus on combining an enjoyable outdoor experience with environmental education highlighting culture, geology, wildlife and climate change.
Both owners have experience in wildlife tours and are extremely conservation-oriented, promoting a sustainable activity while interacting respectfully with the natural environment.
